If you follow my Facebook Public Figure page then you know that I am a contributing writer for Supernaturally Fabulous Magazine which started its launch on Monday, June 29th! You will want to go there now and read articles from some of the most talented writers including myself. Supernaturally Fabulous Magazine "was founded as a tool used to build the awareness of readers around the globe in embracing their purpose in life". Now do you see the connection? Here's a teaser for my article; to read it in its entirety, please visit: http://www.superfabmag.com/only-the-strong-survive-im-not-so-sure-about-that/ To survive means you live or exist despite of but to simply exist is not a sole indicator of strength. Suppose you were attacked and barely escaped with your life. Sure, you exist or you are alive but what about your weakened state–the scars, wounds, broken bones, fear, unrest, etc.? Who will tend to your wounds, perform surgery on you or restore you when you are at the point of death and have almost bled out? Oh, I can recall this point in my life; I was entering womanhood, making college plans and desperately trying to gain a sense of normalcy. I was doing what I was suppose to do; doing the best I knew how but something just wasn’t right was founded as a tool used to build the awareness of readers around the globe in embracing their purpose in life . . .

Where there is great vision and purpose, there will be some friction or resistance. How many times have you tried to do something, put your all into it, crafted amazing plans and the like, only to have everything seem to fall apart? You were passionate, vested (time, energy and finances) and no matter how hard you tried, nothing seemed to work! Why even bother? Where there is great vision, purpose or destiny that awaits you, there is going to be some friction/resistance! I always laugh and tell our Let’s Face It Radio show creator, Wil Strayhorn, we need a TV radio show! As amazing as the episodes are, and our chemistry can be heard on the airways, imagine what it would look like on TV. We keep finding that our best, most impactful shows occur when we initially don’t agree with the vision of the other. One of us will think we should go this way, the other doesn’t agree and then the two of us go back and forth with our pitches. Hmmmm, friction anyone? However, this is proof positive that friction/resistance can be a good thing when utilized properly. We are both visionaries who understand the mission and the role each of us play in it. Our minor disagreements at times are because we are so connected to the mission and our view of how to accomplish it, that we are determined to defend our winning position. At the end of the day, we come to a resolution for the betterment of the show and, viola, the magic happens and we’re both thankful for the initial battle to make it to the finish line. Why? Why even bother? Why not just give in from the beginning and let the other one have his or her way? Where there is great vision, purpose or destiny that awaits you, there is going to be some friction/resistance! Without friction, how else will you ignite the fire to awaken your life, dreams and purpose? Despite the heat/resistance, DON’T ABORT THE MISSION! I refuse to address the racial ties or hate crime angle of the Charleston SC tragedy; enough people have expounded upon that. What must people have not focused on is the fact that Bible prophecy is being fulfilled.
This is not the first time nor will it be the last time that the enemy attacks us in church. For many of us church is that sacred place where your spirit is uplifted and you feel safe and secure in the presence of God. Why would the Devil not pick this safe haven to attack you? You can physically arm yourself, hire security and wear a bulletproof vest but it will be to no avail. These are the last days and bible prophecy is being fulfilled. So, as I offer you these following words of the Lord, please remember to pray every day—for you, your family, your church leader and leadership including their families, your community, your nation, your enemies (yes them) and those you don’t even know. These are the times where praying, fasting and interceding are critical; things will only get worse so brace yourself naturally and spiritually. 2 Timothy 3:1, NKJV But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: 2 For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, 4 traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away! Ephesians 6:11-18, KJV 11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. 13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. 14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; 15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: 18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints; --Alesha Brown, The Joy Guru Host of Let’s Face It w/Wil Strayhorn and Friends on Blogtalkradio www.letsfaceitradio.com Author of Sometimes all you have is Happy (available on Createspace, Amazon and Kindle) thejoyguru.net One of the greatest pleasures in life is when you discover what your purpose is. Very few moments can compare to that time where you say, this is what I was born to do! Oh, if only that was enough; IT ISN'T! With maturity I learned some of life's best lessons are learned during times of great struggles, challenges and defeats. Initially we think things would be great if everything just fell into place and we were able to reap bountifully. Yet, it is during the time of tribulation, perseverance and failure that we learn and develop our strength. Whether I am blessed to be in the company of successful giants or up and comers, one theme seems to reoccur: they don't perceive the depth of their greatness. Simply put . . . . . . examine the graphic. Same person, same eyes but what a dramatic difference! Can you imagine the wardrobe selections of the two? I can see the eye on the left in jeans, sneakers and a simple shirt whereas the one of the right would select a fabulous hair do, beautiful dress, heels and all the accessories perfect for a night out on the town. What does this have to do with anything? So many of us perceive ourselves as the eye on the left: ordinary, doing our job/a good job, comfortable and in the flow of things. We also make the mistake of thinking that everyone else sees us that way too. The reality is others see us as the eye on the right: fascinating, attention grabbing, bold, daring and worthy of any accolades and adornments we can find. Although dramatically different, both eyes belong to the same person which poses the following questions:
Now do you see the difference? Perception is everything and it starts with what you see when you look in the mirror. If you don't give yourself permission to be great, which was actually given to you when you were created, you will always live BELOW your potential and make less than an impact than you could. Want to enlarge your territory and expand your reach with your vision, business or brand? Enlarge your vision and perception of yourself first! --Alesha Brown, The Joy Guru Host of Let’s Face It w/Wil Strayhorn and Friends on Blogtalkradio www.letsfaceitradio.com Author of Sometimes all you have is Happy (available on Createspace, Amazon and Kindle) thejoyguru.net As a radio personality, it is my job to keep abreast of trending topics as well as what people are saying about them. I also understand how media can skew the issues and promote stories in order to take your attention away from the real issues. Despite what you feel about the Bruce/Caitlyn Jennfer story, there is one lesson that this transformation offers to all us personally and professionally.
Life offers plenty of opportunities for you to reinvent yourself and transform. This concept is not only a good idea but mandatory if you want to experience real growth and elevation. Just know that, as you seek real change and emerge/relaunch-rebrand yourself, there will always be those who are looking for the old you:
You can make your own lists of the negativity you experience along your journey or all the fears you have in your head of what people will say if you step out of your comfort zone. Sure, initially it is easy to listen to them and just go with the status quo; mediocrity appears to be convenient. Stepping outside of the box and daring to be different or extraordinary is not for the weak; it is hard, taxing and sometimes devastating. However, ask yourself this: would you rather work every day in mediocrity fulfilling someone else’s vision and storing away wealth for their future generations or would you rather exercise your gift/divine purpose and be the star that you were divinely inspired to be? Hmmmm, now how easy/convenient/comfortable is mediocrity long-term? Dare to be bold, be beautiful and be you; after you weather the storm, like Caitlyn Jenner, you will be at peace and feel like you are who you were meant to be. Otherwise, you will always live a life where you are frustrated, disappointed and feel like you are suffocating. -Alesha Brown, The Joy Guru Host of Let’s Face It w/Wil Strayhorn and Friends on Blogtalkradio www.letsfaceitradio.com Author of Sometimes all you have is Happy (available on Createspace, Amazon and Kindle) thejoyguru.net |
