I said it last week but it bears repeating: BE THANKFUL!
No, this is not some hokey cheer or pump you up speech but it is a necessary lesson/state of mind to experience exceeding joy. Here in Virginia we are bracing for a winter storm and that is the perfect circumstance for thankfulness. How? Do you have a refrigerator and or pantry with food items and water? If your answer is yes, then that means you have shelter, food, electricity or some heat source and provisions. You might not live in the home of your dreams but, even if the insulation isn’t up to par, I guarantee you that it is warmer than concrete. Even the news channels are mentioning places that are opening to provide warmth during this winter storm. To boot, you might even have transportation to get you wherever you need to go and or can all out and have food delivered to your home. The storm will soon pass, just like many of the storms of life: sickness, death, hurt, pain, loss, etc. No matter what storm you are currently in or preparing for—in case you didn’t know, we remain in either of these states and continuously rotate—count it ALL JOY! Everything might not be what you want it to be but it could be worse. If you think about it, it probably has been or you can count the number of ways that God spared your life and kept you from hurt, harm and danger. (Do you remember that person that you thought was perfect for you and now you look and ask, What was I thinking?!! I bet that will get the thankful ball rolling!) Everyone is facing some type of battle each day but, despite your challenges, there are many who would give anything to trade places with you. Think of those that have passed on that would have loved to have the additional day of life that you have today.
